Twitter

Nice plug for TJ *

When he's not contributing to Native Intelligence or writing novels, or tweeting as himself, TJ Sullivan tweets as @Eyjafjallajokul. Today's The Scoop on MSNBC.com gives him kudos (at the lower end of a column on Sandra Bullock's divorce and adoption) for lending everyone's favorite Icelandic volcano a Twitter persona.

With tweets such as, “People love it when The Cure sings ‘I’ll Stop the World and Melt With You,’ but I actually DO IT and everybody’s pissed!” and “A petition to make me stop spewing trash all over Europe? The Spice Girls did the same thing for years and nobody petitioned them to stop!” the volcano account was a rare combination: timely and funny.

TJ went dormant on Wednesday, posting: "The volcano sleeps, and life goes on. Time for this writer to go finish his next novel. Stay cool."

* Oops: He came out of dormancy tonight long enough to tweet that, as a couple of LA Observed readers have noted, "Melt With You" was from Modern English, not The Cure.
