Quick revisit with photographer Charles Brittin

brittinderricks.jpg
Remember this photograph of Venice Beach oil derricks from 1957? It's by Charles Brittin, whose story as an 80-year-old Beat and Ferus Gallery photographer — whose work was acquired by the Getty — we told you about at Native Intelligence a couple of years ago. Our weak excuse for running it again is nothing bad: his home in Santa Monica Canyon just sold for $1.95 million to "Doctor Who" producer Julie Gardner, the L.A. Times says.
