  • "UnFictional," a new series showcasing the work of independent producers and storytellers, will debut on KCRW Sept. 28 in the 2:30 p.m. Tuesday slot occupied for years by "Politics of Culture."
  • Clint Eastwood wants Joaquin Phoenix to play Claude Tolson, the reputed lover of the late FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, says Vulture.
  • Ex-Herald Examiner reporter (plus Channel 2 and TV Guide) Ann Salisbury Doneen has launched Save Malibu Lagoon.com.
  • Jerry Roberts, the ex-editor of the Santa Barbara News Press, is leaving his staff job at UC Santa Barbara to concentrate on writing and his Calbuzz political blog. Craig Smith
  • Former Wall Street Journal and L.A. Business Journal reporter Jason Booth has joined the Saylor Company. He was formerly at Sitrick and Company.
  • Frank Buckley of KTLA moderates a mid-term election forum for the Society of Professional Journalists on Sept. 23 in Pasadena.
