HBO's documentary on teenage paparazzo Austin Visschedyk premiered tonight — and it's worth a look as an L.A. story. The film is hosted by actor Adrian Grenier, who it's said became interested when he noticed Visschedyk, then 14, taking pictures in a pack of celebrity paparazzi. The kid has been interviewed and written about a lot, but this takes us behind the scenes as Austin runs and skateboards around the streets of Hollywood, goes through the motions of being home-schooled, and twists his hapless mother around his little finger. Along the way, the kid earns the respect of working paps and celebs, turns into a sad figure who thinks Paris Hilton is his best friend, and ultimately seems to mature a little under Grenier's guidance. Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria Parker, Alec Baldwin and a bunch of Grenier's "Entourage" pals show up, along with professors who opine on the role of celebrity in American culture.
