Pedestrian killed, 16 students hurt when car hits school bus

The bus was carrying 54 students from the East Los Angeles Skills Center. Authorities say a BMW ran a red light, struck the pedestrian and hit the bus, which flipped on its side at the Metro stop at 1st Street and Soto in Boyle Heights. Most of the injuries are considered minor. The occupants of the car fled but were arrested.
