Free tickets for LA Observed readers: Nora Ephron, Simon Winchester

We have a limited number of tickets available for upcoming author events around Los Angeles. Email me if you're interested; let me know which event you want to attend. If you've received some tickets recently (say, to see P.J. O'Rourke or Michael Caine), let's let others have a chance, please.

  • Writers Bloc is offering tickets to see Nora Ephron, whose new book is “I Remember Nothing,” in conversation with writer/director Robin Swicord this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Writers Guild theater in Beverly Hills. Tix are usually $20. Event info.
  • Live Talks Los Angeles, the new speaker series that LA Observed helps sponsor, will host author Simon Winchester ("Atlantic: The Biography of an Ocean") in conversation with Patt Morrison (KPCC, L.A. Times) on Nov. 18 at the Track 16 Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. The evening will benefit the forthcoming Los Angeles Review of Books. Editor Tom Lutz, head of the creative writing program at UC Riverside, talks about the review in an interview at the Live Talks website. Tix for this are $20 and up. Event info.
