Breeze columnist John Bogert has cancer, daughter writes

The youngest daughter of Daily Breeze columnist John Bogert took to her dad's paper to fill in readers on his health after an operation discovered late-stage colon cancer. It's not as if he hadn't been getting checked all his life:

What made things more impossible to comprehend was that my dad has had ulcerative colitis since childhood. He has been getting colonoscopies since he was 15, meaning everyone but the estate of Jacques Cousteau has footage of my dad's colon. How was this missed?

The report gave us some badly needed good news. It is cancer, yes, but it isn't in his liver or lymph nodes. We're still waiting on a more conclusive PET scan and my dad has to recover from his surgeries before we meet with an oncologist to map out a plan. However, we now know he has a chance. We have better odds than we originally were told and that had me dancing and crying in his hospital room.
