Joe Lumer, L.A. parking magnate was 62

Joes-parking-sign.jpgJoe Lumer is the name behind the Joe's Auto Parks lots so ubiquitous in Downtown Los Angeles. His company, L&R, also runs WallyPark and recently sold System Parking, Five Star, and Network Parking. Lumer died while vacatiioning in Argentina. From his company:

Dear Clients, Colleagues and Friends,

We are all saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Mr. Joe Lumer. As you know, Joe served as Chief Executive Officer of the L&R Group of Companies with more than 30-years of hands-on executive experience. Joe brought extensive insight and leadership to the parking industry. Joe began his career in the downtown parking lots of Los Angeles, CA and has been instrumental in building the L&R Group of Companies into a national parking entity. Joe's dedication and commitment to his family and the company was unparalleled and he will be missed dearly.

Memorial services are scheduled for Monday, January 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the University Synagogue, 11960 West Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles.
