Dean Singleton to step down as CEO and chairman of MediaNews

MediaNews owns the Los Angeles Newspaper Group papers in and around Los Angeles, including the Daily News, as well as the San Jose Mercury and others in Northern California. The Denver company said today it is launching a search for a new chief executive officer to succeed William Dean Singleton. He will become executive chairman of MediaNews Group when a successor is found. singleton will also remain publisher of the papers in Denver and Salt Lake City.
