Exciting day of mistaken identity for L.A. journo *

Photojournalist Jonathan Alcorn and a news crew shooting a story on paparazzi for Bloomberg News were stopped near Sunset Plaza this afternoon (presumably by sheriff's deputies), ordered to the ground and treated as felony suspects for awhile. He posts at Facebook and responds to comments from friends:

Was just prone on the ground felony stop with about 10 guns pointed at me and a news crew. Felony stop mistaken identity shotguns helicopter. The whole deal.

I'm not kidding. 5 of us. They thought we were armed robbers. Doing a story on paparazzis for Bloomberg.

Dude I was on the ground with guns and rifles pointed at me They were not playing. The concrete was hot too

We are all fine thanks

* Update: Alcorn blogged about the incident and posted a photo someone had uploaded to Twitter ("That's me in the light shirt, second from the right, face down.") WeHo Daily also covered the episode. The roust was by the LAPD, not West Hollywood sheriff's.
