Scarlett Johansson's phone hacker guessed at passwords

Scarlett Johansson buzzfeed-cropThe feds today talked about Christopher Chaney, a 35-year-old in Jacksonville, Florida who is accused of using his home computer to crack into the email accounts and mobile phones of celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis and Christina Aguilera. His main way of gaining access, the FBI says, was to glean personal details from gossip magazines, websites and social media sites — then try potential email passwords. Trial and error. Once he had the password, he was off to the races. Compliments to Steven Martinez, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles field office, for adding a new word to the media lexicon: "hackerrazzi." Left unanswered, and hopefully even unasked: Were the nude photos Johansson took in her bedroom hacked off her phone or when she emailed them to someone.
