It was 30 years ago today that actor John Belushi died in Bungalow 3, at the age of 33. That's former LA news stalwart Robin Groth reporting after Ted Koppel on the "Nightline" piece.
Backup singer and rock groupie Cathy Smith later admitted she had given Belushi a fatal speedball of heroin and cocaine, took a plea bargain to involuntary manslaughter, and served time in prison. In 1985 Bob Woodward covered the death in his controversial book, "Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi."
