Observing Los Angeles

Jo Mora map reprinted to satisfy demand

mora-detail3.jpgIf you missed your chance to acquire a copy of the Jo Mora map of Los Angeles that we told you about a few weeks ago, I have good news. The curator of the Jo Mora Trust Collection, who by the way has been personally blown away by the huge interest in Los Angeles, emailed to say that he is making an unlimited edition available. It's in stock at the Central Library's gift shop and at Skylight Books in Los Feliz, Peter Hiller says.

This is a detail of Mora's 1942 map. See the whole thing.

Kevin, the response to your write up of Jo Mora's Los Angeles carte was overwhelming - thank you!...The email requests have been very touching as so many people have embraced this historic look at the City of Angels.

His thanks are really for Alison and Heath Hewitt, who discovered Jo Mora's maps at the Los Angeles Public Library a few years ago. They got in touch and persuaded Hiller to make Mora's Los Angeles carte available as a poster. They wanted to hang in it in their new home in the Valley. The first run in May quickly sold out.
