Times debuts new global population series

lat-series-promo.jpgNot the best weekend to unveil a major new project, given the mass shooting rampage in Aurora, Colorado, but the LA Times is committed now. The paper has unveiled the promotion campaign for a five-part series on global population growth. "The world's population rate continues to grow at a relentless rate," says an ad emailed to online subscribers. "The Times' Kenneth R. Weiss and Rick Loomis traveled across Africa, Asia and the Pacific to document the causes and consequences in words, photos, graphics and videos." Subscribers are being offered full access now as one of the member perks.

Weiss and Loomis were the reporter and photographer behind the "Altered Oceans" series that won a Pulitzer prize several years back.
