As San Fernando turns: bench warrant for ex-mayor

mario-hernandez-150x180.jpgA judge issued a bench warrant today for former city of San Fernando mayor Mario Hernandez. He failed to show up and testify at the trial of his ex-girlfriend, the former San Fernando City Councilwoman Maribel De La Torre. He's the victim of her alleged crime, but he's not in favor of her prosecution. The prosecutors charge that De La Torre battered Hernandez during a incident when they were together. If Hernandez does not show up, the case may have to be dismissed.

Chances are you first heard of Hernandez and De La Torre when he announced at a city council meeting that year, with his wife in the audience, that he was having an affair with his council colleague. Hernandez soon after resigned from the council and De La Torre was recalled by the voters last month.
