Behind a construction fence on Pico Boulevard, what used to be the parking lot for Billingsley's Steak House and a medical marijuana dispensary is now taken up with bridge structures for the second, Westside phase of Metro's Expo Line light rail.

Wood framing is up for the bridge that will carry trains above grade between Sepulveda and Sawtelle boulevards.

At Sepulveda and Exposition boulevards, the bridge waits to be extended across the intersection.

The 6.6-mile extension of the Expo Line from Culver City to Santa Monica will have stations at National and Palms, Westwood Boulevard, Sepulveda, Bundy Drive, Olympic Boulevard at 26th Street, Colorado Avenue and 17th Street, and at Colorado and 4th Street in downtown Santa Monica. Completion is expected maybe in 2015.
