Oops, LA Times mixes up its sports

baseball-point-lat.jpgBaseball is a sport based on runs and outs — there are no points. Ever. Dave Raymond on Twitter would like the Los Angeles Times Sports section to relearn this truth. "Dear large-market newspaper, Please familiarize yourself with the language of baseball. Please," he posts along with the accompanying shot of a Times headline and deck. The sports site Deadspin adds to the mocking, saying the deck must explain why the Angels had a losing opening week of the baseball season: "We're confident the Angels will get it together as soon as they start scoring more points than their opponents."

I'm starting to get more email again about Times errors that are more about accuracy or judgement than typos: locations or directions that are off, that kind of thing. I rarely post them, but this doozy of a caption was picked up last week by columnist and blogger Amy Alkon. She says it was on the front page of LATimes.com:
