Time ticking for Jenny Price's Malibu beaches app

malibu-trespass-sign.jpgThe Kickstarter campaign to support the hidden beach access app that grew out of an LA Observed series by Jenny Price runs only until May 30 — that's Thursday. They are still about $8,000 shy of the goal, so go check it out. More than 475 backers have pledged already.

Jenny's Native Intelligence posts guiding beachgoers to the best sand in Malibu — and how to get around the tricky little obstacles thrown up by Malibu property owners who want to keep you off the public beaches — can be found here:

Also: There was a nice LA Times Column One story about Jenny today, by staff writer Martha Groves. It contains the true news that Jenny is leaving Los Angeles imminently — first for a fellowship in Munich, then to Princeton to be a visiting humanities professor at the Princeton Environmental Institute. Sad but true. She led one final tour of the Los Angeles River environs this weekend, and it was packed I hear.

Jenny wrote for LA Observed last year about coming home to Los Angeles after a visit to New Jersey — and some of the things she missed about LA. Now it's LA's turn to miss her.
