The Los Angeles Times is experimenting with this Sunday's print Calendar section — that is the day of the Academy Awards ceremony and TV show. The cover images of Oscars statuettes have been printed to change color when held up to the light. "The Oscars inspired us to make your Sunday L.A. Times feel more like a smartphone," the paper says.

Hey, when you are a newspaper these days you may as well try new things with your print edition, right? Assistant managing editor for design Micheal Whitley explains in a video on the Times' website.
