Power tables at The Grill

Several interesting morsals, courtesy of the WSJ, about where Hollywood's movers and shakers like to sit at the famous Beverly Hills watering hole. For those who haven't been there, two side walls of the room are configured with Pullman-style booths, where diners face each other and ambient noise is kept to a minimum. Of these tables, favorites include #103 (Kirk Kerkorian, Ed Hookstratten) and #104 (Brad Grey, Brian Grazer). The super-power area are those four horseshoe tables along the back row; from that vantagepoint, diners can survey who is in the room. The Journal notes that "reservations are required - whether it's Universal Studios President and COO Ron Meyer, or super agents Kevin Huvane (CAA) or Ed Limato (ICM) - and no one can 'own,' or even reserve, a particular table. Early arrivals get first choice." Among the recent sitings:

Viacom founder and Executive Chairman Sumner Redstone had dinner with his wife, Paula Fortunato, at booth 127. Mr. Redstone used to bring in his own diet cranberry juice and diet tonic water; now the restaurant stocks those items for him. Donald Bren, chairman of the real-estate investment firm Irvine Co., comes in every Sunday night; he prefers table 106. Producer Richard D. Zanuck ("Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") ate at table 105 with director Tim Burton. Agent Tracey Jacobs, who is also a partner at UTA, came in with client Johnny Depp.
