*Waxman takes poke at THR

hollywood-reporter-relaunch1.jpgThe Wrap's Sharon Waxman says she has yet to read the new Hollywood Reporter magazine because she can't find it on any newsstand.

I just spent an hour driving around the West Side and four out of five newstands did not carry the trade, whose new magazine debuts tomorrow in weekly format. Pavilions did not. The big Von's on Wilshire did not. Barnes and Noble in Santa Monica said they'd canceled it months ago, but was I interested in Daily Variety. (No.)

Waxman, who has taken shots at her competitors in the past, wasn't too impressed with the cover photo of actresses, saying that it looked like an Oscar special section that Variety or the Reporter would put out. "Come on, Janice!" referring to Janice Min, the Reporter's new editorial director, "I was expecting dripping blood, or nearly-visible nipples or something ... I dunno ... sensational." Min used to run US Weekly.
