Villaraigosa doesn't want to talk about current transit problems

The mayor was on KNX this morning, wanting to talk about his quixotic 30-10 transportation plan that includes a Westside subway extension. But before he could spout off his mindless talking points, anchor Dick Helton dared to ask him about the current transit mess. "You know it's sunny outside and you're talking like it's doom and gloom, my friend," Villaraigosa said. At one point, he cut off Helton and said he didn't want to talk about stuff like buses and potholes - just the 30-10 charade that may eventually get through Congress but has absolutely zero chance of accomplishing the goal of completing transit projects in 10 years instead of 30 (I'm taking bets). Politically, this man is desperate - he is leading a city that's in such terrible fiscal shape that a bankruptcy filing is not out of the question, and all that he's left to peddle is a standard-issue effort that will do nothing to relieve L.A. congestion. Always the empty suit.
