Budget vote early next week?

That's what Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg said this morning as talks with a splinter group of Republican senators appear to be continuing. From Capitol Alert:

"We are certainly shooting for, you know, at the very latest Monday, or early, early next week," Steinberg, D-Sacramento, said as he left the governor's office with Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez, D-Los Angeles. "We're going to work it hard through the weekend."

Steinberg and Pérez wouldn't offer specifics on the negotiations (the Republicans want pension, regulatory and other reforms). Gov. Jerry Brown had set today as the deadline for a budget package, but got the legislative leadership to delay the vote.
