Trump jumps to 2nd place in WSJ/NBC News poll

Really pathetic. But it does show that Republicans are not at all satisfied with the usual suspects, and that a dark horse could still easily emerge. Here's the rundown of choices in a hypothetical 2012 primary.

1. Mitt Romney 21%

2. Donald Trump 17%
Mike Huckabee 17%

4. Newt Gingrich 11%

5. Sarah Palin 10%

6. Tim Pawlenty 6%

7. Michele Bachmann 5%

8. Rick Santorum 3%

9. Haley Barbour 1%

From the WSJ:

Mr. Trump "may be a punch line but when he talks about the way to solve our problems, he makes a lot of sense to the average guy out there," said Todd Mauney, a conservative Republican in Weatherford, Texas. "I don't know if people can get over him being the butt of every joke but for me, he can be serious when it's time to make real decisions.
