Signs of Saturday: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...

mailed 12/29/2020, arrived 4/7/2021

Mailed at the end of December, arrived the first week of April. Just three months to go three miles.

Who let the dogs out?

high alert

There's a hike in the Santa Monica Mountains that skirts the edge of some rural properties, and at certain times of day, you have a vocal audience.

This sign went up in Solstice Canyon the other day, and while there were plenty of crows and parrots, no trace of poor little Pikachu.

I keep forgetting to post this hawk

watchful hawk

Happy to have had the chance to be dismissed (foolish human) by another glorious raptor. This was in Bluffs Park, where this hawk recently has been spending his mornings.

The meaning of time

I've lost the thread. Quarantine, loss, sorrow, new puppy, and the days drift by. The dogs get walked and fed but laundry piles up. Work gets done but writing projects languish. Not even stamina for a new movie. Instead of Minari or One Night in Miami it's a Law and Order re-run I've seen before. The beautiful baking book from the library is a three-times renewed paperweight. And the poor little blog, stalled so long it's in danger of crashing.

So here's a hawk in Bluffs Park on a cool, still morning.
