Hahn's 'airhead' plan for LAX

"Airhead" is the Daily News' term, not mine. The DN editorial page calls Mayor Hahn's plan to modernize LAX either a bad idea or a boondoggle, and also predicts that it (sorry) won't fly.

So why would Hahn spend so much time and money on a plan that would do little good and that has little chance of ever becoming reality?

One theory is that he's carrying the water for the consultants who came up with the plan and the unions that would make a bundle were it ever implemented.

"This was something politically promised at the time Hahn got elected," says David Fleming, former vice chairman of the California Transportation Commission.
