SPJ to honor five locals

The Greater L.A. chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has announced some awards for journalists of the year:

The winners are: Jeff Wald, news director at KTLA-TV; George Nicholaw, retired vice president and general manager of KNX Newsradio; Lori Streifler, city editor, City News Service; and Steve Lopez, columnist, Los Angeles Times. The Freedom of Information Award recipient is Eugene Volokh, a law professor at UCLA who is a First Amendment advocate.

The banquet hasn't been scheduled, but the chapter promises it will happen early in the new year.
