Checking up on the journo-bloggers

There's a new journalist blog in town and on the list of links down the left side of this page. Tony Castro, Beverly Hills book author and columnist for the L.A. Independent, has added a weblog to his professional website. His most recent posts give his take on the legacy of Frank del Olmo, the Times editor and columnist who died last week.

Here's a snapshot of what some of the other California journalists-who-blog have at the top of their sites:

Dan Weintraub - A court case that could cost the state treasury $1 billion.

Matt Welch - His new band, Ken Layne and the Corvids, has a CD out and is playing gigs around town this week.

Cathy Seipp - Deconstructing Naomi Wolf.

Michael Schneider - The original Los Angeles subway.

Nancy Rommelmann - Packing up the house to leave L.A.

Luke Y. Thompson - I quote: "Today, Jesus brought me and a conservative Republican ex-congressman together. Don't believe me? Stay tuned for details on Wednesday."

Chris Weinkopf - Prop. 56 "an insult to ballot initiatives."

Joseph Mailander - Reading Proust, and Painter, and Tadié.

Murray Fromson - Elections as a measure of a nation embracing democracy: "Having tracked balloting in more than a dozen nations of the developing world, I can say that generally speaking the odds of a successful outcome, devoid of corruption, violence and mismanagement, are slim to none."

Tom Mangan - A review of the American Splendor DVD.

John Battelle - He explores the KeepMedia service and its use of RSS feeds.

Howard Owens - An anti-Kerry, anti-Edwards political rant.

Kent Shocknek - He shares his birthday with Britney Spears: "Words fail me."

Josh Rubenstein - Saving a greyhound in Tijuana.

Alan Mendelson - Expect 30-cent jump in gas prices.
