More on commissioners

City commissioners have donated more than $800,000 to local campaign coffers in the past five years, the Times reports today. That is over and above what the commissioners raise as middlemen for the mayor and other office holders, which is really the activity at the heart of the corruption investigations that must be ruining the breakfasts of many political players around town.

Also, the Daily News, Times and Daily Breeze report on Hahn changing direction by announcing that he will appoint a panel to look into how city contracts are awarded by the commissions that oversee the airport, harbor and the Department of Water and Power. USC law and ethics professor Erwin Chemerinsky was named to head the panel. Last week, Hahn told the DN that he would not name such a panel, the paper says.
