Editor goes the PR route

Jonathan Taylor, recently the L.A. Times' TV and radio editor, is leaving daily journalism to become senior vice president of The Lippin Group. Before joining the Times, Taylor was a senior-level editor at Variety, as the Lippin press release details:

JONATHAN TAYLOR TO JOIN THE LIPPIN GROUP
AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

LOS ANGELES, CA -- September 14, 2004 -- Jonathan Taylor, Television, Home Entertainment and Radio Editor of The Los Angeles Times, will join the international public relations consulting firm The Lippin Group as Senior Vice President, effective October 1, it was announced today by Dick Lippin, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Company.

Prior to joining The Los Angeles Times, Mr. Taylor held several prominent positions with Variety including Executive Editor, General Manager of Variety.com, Executive Editor, Special Reports, and Editor and Managing Editor, Daily Variety. He has also served as Media Editor at Bloomberg News, Entertainment Editor at the Los Angeles Daily News and as a Music Reporter and Reviewer for "Entertainment Tonight" and radio's "Entertainment Coast-to-Coast."

"It is virtually impossible to find someone with the breadth of experience across the many platforms of the entertainment industry that Jonathan enjoys," Mr. Lippin stated. "His knowledge marries extraordinarily well with our considerable involvement in the worlds of television, music, film, home entertainment and new media, and his communications skills are excellent."

Mr. Taylor will report to Mr. Lippin and will be based in the company's Los Angeles headquarters office. The Lippin Group also maintains owned and operated offices in New York and London. Mr. Taylor will be involved in a range of projects utilizing the full scope of his talents and skills.

The Lippin Group represents many of the entertainment industry's leading associations as well as work for major studios, independent production and distribution companies and broadcast, cable and satellite organizations in the United States and many countries abroad. The Company also conducts consumer campaigns on network, cable, syndication and public broadcasting television programs, music CD's, studio and independent films, DVD and video and Internet-based content.
