Mayoral candidate Bob Hertzberg was first out of the gate with a website, ChangeLA.com, and a blog. The content has not been scintillating, but since the last time I looked he has added a daily digest of links to stories about city politics, mixed in with the candidate's own thoughts. Today on the Hertz-blog, he talks about this week's Daily News series on gang violence and the ongoing reporting out of South Los Angeles by Jill Leovy of the Times. The campaign has also added a crime map to the site that lets you click on your police division and get a recent stat or two about the crime rate. All the activity seems to coincide with the arrival of Matt Szabo as communications director, from City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo's staff.

* Wednesday reaction: In the Times story, Hahn's people ask why Hertzberg didn't use the latest stats showing more drop in crime. In the Daily News, Hertzberg acknowledges that the crime rate is better under Hahn's watch, but argues it's still too high.
