The picture with today's Times story about city councilman Greig Smith injuring a skateboarder with his car is not Smith, but one of his campaign contributors. City police commissioner Alan Skobin, the guy in the photo, gave $750 to Smith's election campaign. He's also the VP and General Counsel of Galpin Ford in the Valley, a major financial backer of Smith's. The story doesn't mention Skobin, who replaced his boss, Galpin owner Bert Boeckmann, on the police commission.

* More: Commenters at the 4th Floor have some fun with it all. Also, in my post about the 4th Floor last week, I wrote that he/she/they feed(s) the blog while on the city clock. H/s/t wrote to claim taking scrupulous care not to spend work time on the blog, and I notice the latest posts all go up in the evening, late night or early morning. Also, h/s/t says the boss knows about the blog (which should reduce the potential for future juicy revelations).
