Here comes Antonio

Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa was late to get started raising money for his latest bid to become mayor, but he's catching up in a hurry. He has collected nearly $650,000 since announcing in August, compared to $50,000 for state Senator Richard Alarcon. Mayor Jim Hahn, Bob Hertzberg and Bernard Parks have until Monday to file their reports for the period that ended Sept. 30. Hahn had about $1.5 million in the bank the last time stats were reported, and he's sure to hold a big lead over his challengers this time too. Stories in the Daily Breeze and Times.

Also in City Hall: Controller Laura Chick is still doing her best to annoy the hell out of Mayor Hahn. She analyzed the makeup of the mayor's 340 commission appointments and says more diversity is needed. Hahn deputy Julie Wong notes, in response, that Chick has only one woman on her top staff.
