Sunday politics roundup

The Times reports that Mayor Jim Hahn's latest failure to persuade the city council to expand the LAPD could haunt his reelection campaign. In the Daily News (story not online), Hahn campaign manager Bill Carrick says he expects the mayor to be forced into a runoff. In the Business Journal (free with registration), Antonio Villaraigosa acknowledges he has lost some of the union support he enjoyed last time and will settle for a "no endorsement" from the important County Federation of Labor. Also, council members Alex Padilla and Eric Garcetti get free rides to reelection when no one files to run against them.
