Monday notes

Off to a fast start:

Schwarzenegger and ShriverRed carpet: The guv and his missus seemed to enjoy their prime table—and their time in front of the cameras—at the Golden Globes. In the San Francisco Chronicle, Schwarzenegger also talks about his editorship of the fitness magazines owned by his friends at American Media. The current Muscle & Fitness is the "Arnold Training Special'' and includes a 12-page spread on his fitness routines and a bonus poster of "the greatest bodybuilder of all time.'' (AP photo)

Amateur hour: Bernard Parks' campaign for mayor is stumbling and many blame the involvement of his wife Bobbie. A Times front-page story also says that the outside consultants who departed recently all quit, as did Parks' previous managers. (LAT)

L.A. politics: Larry Mantle will discuss the changing landscape with guests Raphael Sonenshein, Connie Rice and Fernando Guerra. It begins at 10:05 a.m. on FM 89.3. (KPCC)

Gunning for Dowie: Unnamed sources say that John Stodder was indicted to put pressure on him to cooperate with the federal grand jury looking into Fleishman-Hillard. The real target is former Fleishman boss Doug Dowie. One ex-Fleishman exec is said to be already cooperating. (LAT)

Ethical cloud: An editorial in the Daily News says that Mayor Jim Hahn's "strategy of denial, shock and outrage" with regard to Fleishman-Hillard isn't working. (DN)

Courting the Jews: At last week's debate at Temple Beth Am, Bob Hertzberg wore a yarmulke and mentioned his son's bar mitzvah. Antonio Villaraigosa quoted from the Torah. Richard Alarcon "mentioned every Jewish teacher and coach who had served as a mentor to him." Bernard Parks talked about Jewish police officers. Jim Hahn said he was "glad to be coming back to Temple Beth Am." (DN)

Hahn ads: Radio spots touting the mayor on black-oriented KKBT-FM (FM 100.3) are being paid for by the Service Employees International Union. (LAT)

Delgadillo's travels: The city attorney did a lot of traveling at the end of 2004 and has banked away a million dollars in campaign funds. If only he had an opponent to spend it against. (LAT)

KNX changes: Veteran anchor Gail Eichenthal quit after the news radio station moved her to afternoon drive time. Vicky Cox will move over from KFWB to replace her. (RonFineman.com)

Hoy redesign: The Spanish-language daily is getting new fonts and a faster-read format. "It will be much more like a traditional tabloid, or not even a traditional tabloid, but more like Latin American tabloids like Peru 21 or the tabloids in Spain," says Publisher Digby Solomon Diez.
