Hertzberg on Thursday *

Howard Fine reports on the L.A. Business Journal website that Bob Hertzberg will come out for Villaraigosa tomorrow in the Valley. Fine cites "a source close to Hertzberg." The Villaraigosa campaign only confirms that it has called a 10 a.m. gathering in Sylmar, with county Supervisor Gloria Molina along for the photo op. Hertzberg's brother Jerry works for Molina, but she may also be there to quash the perception that Latinas, most especially Hertzberg's wife, are down on Villaraigosa.

* Also: Robert Greene reports in Thursday's LA Weekly that "the closer we get to election day the more insubstantial everything about the mayor’s race becomes." He also notices that Villaraigosa's official name in LAT headlines seems to be "Rival" (except for today's lead story in the paper, when they spelled out his name.)
