Laura Chick statement

City Controller Laura Chick, whose audits brought some attention to the Fleishman-Hillard PR contracts, released this statement about today's indictment of City Hall figure Doug Dowie.

"I want to congratulate our US Attorney and District Attorney on their excellent and diligent work in this case. Once again, it speaks to what can be accomplished when governments collaborate. This is a sad but necessary day if justice is to move forward. This indictment begins to close a painful chapter in a sordid tale in the history of Los Angeles. The message is clear - you better think twice before you defraud the taxpayers of Los Angeles."
