Antonio a player in NYC

The New York Daily News reports today that Mayor Villaraigosa will host a fundraiser here on Monday for Fernando Ferrer, the Democrat who is trying to unseat Michael Bloomberg as mayor of New York.

"Antonio and I share the same values for working- and middle-class people in our respective cities," said Ferrer, who will travel to California..."I'm proud and happy to have his assistance in this race."

The Rev. Al Sharpton says he is under pressure from Villaraigosa to endorse Ferrer as well.
