Villaraigosa on horseYou didn't really think I was going to let the mayor get up on a horse without taking photographic note of the occasion, did you? Antonio Villaraigosa rode an LAPD steed called Tom around Chatsworth on Saturday, delivering on a promise he made during the campaign. The Daily News ran a story yesterday, but the paper's kludgy archive refuses to cough it up. (OK, here it is.) The website of the Chatsworth Equine Cultural Heritage Organization, however, is quite pleased with the mayor's appearance. It gives a little report and posts some additional photos. The Times' Patrick McGreevy, meanwhile, weighs in three weeks early with a look both back and ahead at the mayor's first one hundred days. The theme is that unforeseen events such as Hurricane Katrina and high-profile police incidents, as well as "some confusion within his staff," have conspired to delay the administration's ambitions. The story also contains the news that Villaraigosa has been called for jury duty starting today.
