Metromix sweeps up job seekers *

Metromix, the younger and, ahem, edgier sibling re-make of Calendar Live coming in June from the Times and Tribune, has staffed up. Deborah Vankin, formerly of Variety and LA Weekly, is the editor. Alexandra Le Tellier (currently Managing Editor of LA.com) comes on as Managing Editor and overseer of clubs coverage. Also:

-Scott T. Sterling, former Editor In Chief of URB Magazine, will oversee Music content;
-Alie Ward, freelance music/art/nightlife columnist for LA Weekly will oversee Events coverage all across the site;
-Jiyeon Yoo (fashion editor and freelance lifestyle writer for Los Angeles Magazine, among others) will oversee Restaurants and Style coverage.
-Ann Donahue, former News Editor at Premiere Magazine and a long-time Variety staffer, is an on-staff "Editor at Large," contributing to several sections.

They are still looking for a freelance style editor/blogger, a copy editor, a photo editor, a multimedia editor and a few interns. (Anyone who contacts LA Observed about those positions obviously flunks the media savvy test.) TV and film coverage will be produced by the national Metromix team in Los Angeles and syndicated to Tribune properties here and in New York, Chicago, Baltimore and Orlando.

* I stand corrected: Metromix is a strictly Tribune operation. The Times' Calendar Live will be getting a separate redo this summer under the direction of MaryKaye Schilling, former exec editor at Entertainment Weekly.
