creditIt's retro month at LA Observed. First Sharon Tay returns, now Reggie the wayward alligator has apparently been spotted at Lake Machado in Harbor City for the first time since 2005. City News Service says that Councilwoman Janice Hahn and Rec and Parks officials will hold a press conference at 5 pm at Pacific Coast Highway and Vermont Avenue. To quote Carrie Bradshaw, it's too good!

Yes, the picture is a caiman — not a gator — but oldtimers will remember that the first Reggie reports were of a caiman on the loose. Besides, I've always liked to think it's what Reggie might look like.

* Tuesday stories: Reggie has, um, grown. Could be a seven-footer now. If it's him and not some new L.A. alligator. LAT, Breeze

As newspapers and television pull back from investigative reporting, foundations and other organizations are beginning to fill the void. One of the most interesting is Accountable California, a project of Local 721 of the Service Employees International Union.
