Does it seem like reader email over the Al Martinez shove is getting more mean? Check out the new stuff. Martinez himself is scheduled to guest on KPCC's "Patt Morrison" today about 2:30 pm. He was on "Which Way, L.A.?" with Warren Olney last week on KCRW (listen to audio.) Meanwhile, Gia Gittleson's cancel-my-subscription email last week brought a response from the Times' reader representative. She suggests that Times editor Jim O'Shea plans to talk to somebody — Martinez? — but it's really not that clear:

Thanks for writing. We are letting top editors know what readers are saying about the news of Al Martinez's leaving.

And I'm more than sorry to know that you've stopped subscribing as a result of this decision. I understand that the top editor is going to talk with him next week about this.

I wish I could do more than just acknowledge your note but I certainly will pass along your sentiments to editors here. Thank you again for your comments.

Readers' representative

Gittleson is not some crazed Al Martinez groupie — she's a senior editor at Los Angeles Magazine. By the way, Martinez's column ran as usual over the weekend, so I guess that makes him an active Times columnist who can't be emailed. Several readers complained last week that their emails to Martinez were kicked back by the Times, even though his column run apparently doesn't end until June 1. Here's also a new blog post about Martinez.
