Chemerinsky bounced from Irvine gig

Constitutional law scholar and media quotemeister Erwin Chemerinsky was all set to be named dean of the new UC Irvine law school — he even signed the contract — but his liberal political baggage was too heavy for the Board of Regents. Irvine Chancellor Michael V. Drake flew to North Carolina on Tuesday to inform Chemerinsky that the deal was off. There were "conservatives out to get me," Chemerinsky says he was told.
