Tennie Pierce gets $1.5 million

Mayor Villaraigosa signs off on a deal brokered by Council President Eric Garcetti. It's less, obviously, than the $2.7 million Pierce and the City Council agreed to last year, but which Villaraigosa vetoed after a public storm broke out. Pierce is the firefighter who claimed he was victimized by hazing (including being fed dog food in his station) and LAFD retribution, but who was photographed joining in hazings himself. Lawyers keep saying he had a pretty good case and might have won more at trial. LAT, DN
