The candidates will all be here this week, at least for Wednesday's Republican debate at the Reagan library in Simi Valley and the Democrats' face-off on Thursday evening at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland. Obama won't travel far for one of the night's fundraisers, scheduled right afterward at the Avalon on Vine Street. There's a minimum of $500 to get in this one. Names on the invitations include Maria Bello, Michael Chabon, Vendela Vida & Dave Eggers, Irena & Mike Medavoy, Nelson Rising, Wilmer Valderrama and Amber Valletta. I almost feel bad for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, which is committed to holding its big annual dinner the same night. The chamber likes a big turnout of local politicos to give the event some sizzle, but there's a lot of competition in town that night.
