Staff editor-blogger Don Frederick plays it a little coy but says the latest Times/Bloomberg national poll, due to post about 4 pm our time, will show "Obama has erased the once-daunting lead held by Hillary Clinton and now appears to enjoy a slight advantage over her." Looking at November, the poll tested an Obama-McCain matchup and Frederick teases, "the results should hearten the GOP. And at the least, they portend a general election campaign that could be as rollicking as the preliminaries."

* McCain-Obama too close to call: The poll finds McCain would beat Clinton 46% to 40% and is up 44% to 42% over Obama, which is within the three-point margin of error.
