Tale of two news websites *

Major economic news from Wall Street and the nation's capital, or cute furry kitties speaking baby talk? You decide. These screen grabs of the New York Times and Los Angeles Times web front pages were collected a few minutes ago. And they wonder why ever-rising web stats at LATimes.com are accompanied by ever-rising local disenchantment with the paper.

LA Times

NY Times

Keep an eye out: the word sex (and/or a photo of a babe) almost always appears on the main page of LATimes.com these days, based on unscientific score keeping here at LAO. Tonight it's both, mid-way down the page: a photo promoting the upcoming "Sex and the City" DVD.

* Noted: Witness LA had a reaction too.
