Leland Wong gets 5 years

The former City Hall power broker and commissioner was sentenced today to state prison in connection with the pay-to-play scandal during the Jim Hahn years. In particular, Wong carried water for Evergreen Marine, which wanted a sweet deal with the Port of Los Angeles."There's nothing honest about the defendant's relationship with Evergreen," said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Johnson. "He was engaged in graft and corruption, pure and simple." Wong's lawyers said they will appeal. LAT, DN wires
