Barack Obama and John McCain? Feh. How about Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. The L.A. Theatre Works production of "The Rivalry" by Norman Corwin, starring David Strathairn and Paul Giamatti in the key roles, will air on public radio stations and XM Satellite Radio starting Friday. It airs here on KPCC on Saturday from 10 pm to midnight.

Also for Halloween: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (otherwise known as Cassandra Peterson), sits in as the latest KCRW guest DJ. Her five songs include the Pretenders, the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, with whom she had a fling. Past participants in the Guest DJ Project include Conan O'Brien, Sarah Silverman, Matthew McConaughey and Gabrielle Reece.
