But Weiss didn't appear. Rick Orlov says reporters were told Weiss was at another campaign event, but there wasn't one on his public schedule. Meanwhile, rival candidate Michael Amerian received the endorsement of City Controller Laura Chick. Amerian's mother used to work for Chick.
